PUPPY KENNEL COUGH | HOME REMEDIES AND MORE

Puppy kennel cough is no different than kennel cough in dogs that are older. The main thing is that once you have a puppy with kennel cough you will want to make it as comfortable as possible. I will discuss kennel cough and some great home remedies that can be used on puppies.

WHAT IS PUPPY KENNEL COUGH

Think of kennel cough as being like a cold or flu in humans. This respiratory infection in our pets is caused by bacteria and viruses. Here are the bacteria and viruses that cause kennel cough.

Bordetella Bronchiseptica – This bacteria is thought to be the main culprit in causing kennel cough. Canine Parainfluuenza -3 – This is the same virus that causes distemper in dogs. Canine Adenovirus Type 2 – This virus causes colds in dogs.

HOME REMEDIES FOR TREATING PUPPY KENNEL COUGH:

Pediatric robitussen is being used for puppies to help soothe throat tissues that have become sore due to the inflammation of the throat that occurs from the infection. Just like we would do for our children cough syrups are being used on pets. While you will see some posts that say not give this to your dog there are also many post where vets are recommending it. I love this post from a lady who tried it. GOOD NEWS! The Pediatric Robitussin Drops worked! She has not been coughing for the past 2 days! I only used it about 3 days and could not believe how fast it worked. We are still watching her continually though, as well as her siblings. So far so good!: Echinacea – an herb being given to bolster the immune system. Garlic is being given because of its antibacterial and antiviral benefits. Honey is being used not only to soothe the throat but also for the antiseptic benefits of the honey. The amount that is being reported used is 1 teaspoon of honey given three times a day. Other people are having trouble getting the dog to take straight honey are mixing it in water and giving a few drops directly into your pet’s mouth every hour or so. Humidifiers are being used to moisture the air around our pets. Just like us we like a moist warm air when we have a cold. Some are reporting using essential oils such as lavender, tea tree, or eucalyptus.

PRACTICE GOOD HYGIENE WHEN HAVE PUPPY KENNEL COUGH IN THE HOUSE

Puppy kennel cough like any other kennel cough is highly contagious just like a cold or the flu. Therefore, practice good hygiene after handling your puppy. Do the things you would do if you were trying to prevent other family members from getting a cold or flu from another family member.

For other great information on pet illnesses and home remedies read on thru the last paragraph and click on the links. Great secrets await that will help with caring for your pets and saving mega bucks on vet bills.

Making Your Home A Safe And Secure Place For Your Puppy To Live

Before you bring your puppy home, you will need to prepare for his arrival. This will include, making your home puppy safe, and purchasing some essential items he will need. Having things ready before your puppy arrives will make for a smooth transition.

Just like children, puppies are extremely curious and, it won’t be too long before your new puppy begins exploring and learning about his new environment, therefore, it will be important for you to make and manage an environment that your puppy can live, play and, learn safely in.

In order to ‘puppy proof’ your home effectively, make a list of the changes you will need to make in your house, in order to make it safe for your puppy. Include things such as clearing away all detergent bottles, exposed electrical cables, and other potentially dangerous household items your puppy may try to chew. Personal items, such as CD’s, books, shoes and the likes, should also be kept out of view of your puppy, so as they don’t become convenient chewing material.

You will need to restrict your puppy’s movement during the first few weeks when he come to live with you, as this will help to keep him safe, and out of mischief. Try to keep all doors to rooms your puppy is not allowed to go into closed. If you need to keep an eye on him, use child gates in doorways to prevent him from entering. Alternatively, you can think of buying your puppy a crate for him to spend time in; puppy crates make ideal little dens, and if your puppy is introduced to a crate in the correct way, he will look forward to spending time there, when you are busy, or out of the house for a short while.

If you have decided not to buy a crate for your puppy, you will need to buy a comfortable basket for him. Purchase a basket your puppy can rest and sleep in comfortably, and put it in a draught proof place, for example, the kitchen or utility room. You will need to buy two bowls, for your puppy’s food and water. Try to buy the ceramic or metal type, as the plastic variety can be easily tipped up, or chewed by your puppy. When buying your puppy’s collar and lead, purchase a nylon or leather collar. Avoid buying the type of collar that is made of metal links, this type of collar, is often referred to a ‘check collar’ or ‘check chain’, and can quickly become a ‘choke chain’ if it is not fitted or used correctly. You will need to keep your puppy’s coat clean and conditioned, so a simple grooming kit which includes a comb, brush, or mitt, will be sufficient for most breeds. Your puppy is bound to get himself dirty at some point, so puppy shampoo should be on your list. Don’t use anything else when washing or bathing your puppy, for example, washing up liquid, as this could cause your puppy skin problems.

Your puppy will need a variety of hard wearing and stimulating toys. I would advise that you avoid buying the squeaky type toys for your puppy, as this type of toy can be easily chewed, and if swallowed, could be harmful to your puppy. The ideal kind of toy is the type that is can be stuffed with food or treats for your puppy, this type f hard wearing toy, not only gives your puppy’s teeth and gums a good workout, but keeps him mentally stimulated also.

Finally, you will need to have a supply of food at home for your puppy. It will be up to you to decide what type and variety of food to feed him, for example, dry prepared food, tinned food, or to simply keep him on the diet your breeder has provided you. If you plan on changing your puppy’s food, then I would advise buying him the best quality possible. You get what you pay for, and dog food is no exception. Avoid buying the cheaper varieties of food sold at the supermarket for example, as these kinds of foods main source of protein is cereal or vegetable based, and contain a very high proportion of added chemicals and additives. The kind of food you should be looking for should have it’s main source of protein derived from meat, these foods will also contain a balance of essential vitamins and mineral, which are essential to your puppy’s physical and mental development.

Free Dog And Puppy Games Offer Safe Multimedia Applications

Along with advancements and the so called Internet revolution, many improvements in technology have undoubtedly made our daily life easier and more enjoyable. However, as with the development of any good thing in the history of mankind, there seems to be a darker side that goes along with it. In the case of the Internet, we are happy to enjoy arcade games online, such as free dog and puppy games for hours and hours. But the amount of Internet vandalism, viruses, hacker attacks and other ill intentioned initiatives leaves us wondering what is actually safe and what is not. Not to mention the so called “safe’ sites, which feature assassinations, violence, blood sucking creatures and pornography as their main appeal. One can never be too sure these days on what your children is interacting with online.

In the midst of the confusion the offer of free online dog and puppy games is placed on the table. These games share a common denominator, they all feature dogs and puppies as the main character in the gaming adventure. Nicely detailed backgrounds complement the fuzzy little creatures as they become superheroes, fashion stars and veterinarian assistants. Additionally, enticing sound scores and special effects add to the excitement and the overall experience. Dog and puppy games follow a simple pattern, with an easy to follow plot and easy to understand set of controls. Maneuvering your character within these games is quite simple, mostly limited to the use of the mouse and the arrow keys.

But are free dog games online really safe for children. Well, some aspects of these games really set them apart from all others. First and foremost, they are completely void of violent scenes. After looking over many of the most popular dog game titles, such as Dog Police, Puppy Fetch, I Lost My Puppy and others, I have to admit that I never came across a dog or a puppy attacking anyone else. On the contrary, in the title “I lost My Puppy”, the puppy character did offer a lick or two in the screen as a sign of appreciation for being found. Besides violence, there are absolutely no nude scenes, blood sucking creatures or foul language.

Dog games available to play free online are mostly developed in the flash platform, a program recently acquired by Adobe, and previously owned by Macromedia. This code allows programmers to create fast loading and appealing multimedia applications the user may interact with online without the need to download any kind of software. This is another plus in terms of safety, as most of us have already been warned more than once not to download any applications into our local computer. If anything, you may be required to download and install a plug-in into your browser. In the newer versions of Explorer and Firefox, you will be directed to the official site where you can download and install the official version, and avoid any danger of corruption into your system.

Overall, free dog games online prove to be a safe and sound activity for children and adults alike. Providing family entertainment that everyone can enjoy.

Puppy Training Advice

It’s time for some enjoyment and fun. You and your puppy are about to become a team by learning just a few of the basics. You have to carefully mold your dog into the kind of dog you can be proud of. A trained puppy causes much less friction in the home.

Training with the Reward System

The most positive method you will use during the puppy training is the reward method. You will need to find a treat that your puppy will go crazy over. One treat that has worked well for many top trainers is little cut up pieces of hot dogs. The other reward is an awful lot pf praise and love. Keeping it fun for yourself and your puppy is so very important.

The Training

Heel, sit and down are the first three basic commands a puppy should learn. You will have more control over your puppy once they learn these basic commands. When you have a well trained puppy, socializing him to different situations will become much easier. Ten to 15 minutes sessions at the beginning will be enough because they are just puppies. It won’t be long before you will gradually lengthen the training sessions.

Leash Training

With the leash in one hand and a treat in the other, you are ready to begin with the leash training. Using your happy voice, say the puppy’s name, then say heel. As your puppy is walking beside you, begin giving him the food and lots of encouragement. Give the leash a gentle tug while holding the treat in front of the puppy if he stops. Eventually the leash and collar will not bother the puppy.

Teaching The Sit

The easiest way to teach a puppy to sit is by holding a treat in front of his face and then slowly lift it up over his head. Every time you practice this, use the word sit. Whether you are watching TV or doing dishes, the sit is one of the things that can be taught right then and there.

The Down

To teach the down, start with the puppy in the sit position, show the treat to the puppy, then slowly lower the treat to the ground and then forward. Always use the command down when you begin in the downward motion with the food.

If you stay consistent and patient, training your puppy should move along rather smoothly. Whether they pick it up pretty fast or if things seem to be going a little slow, just keep on going. When your puppy is doing these things with the verbal commands and not treats, it will be time to learn more. Remember, stay happy and upbeat, you will see results soon. All will be well when the puppy is trained.

Lots of people are under the misconception that crate training your puppy is cruel and unkind but, if done correctly, this couldn’t be farther from reality. Crate training puppies is a crucial process for most puppy owners. Crate training puppies is an excellent way to permit a pup to become used to his new surroundings. It’s not a type of abuse, but will really help to make a puppy become a well- adjusted pet.

The purpose of crate training your puppy is to teach your dog to go in to the crate on command for basic safety, obedience and general behavior control. The first step when crate training a puppy should be to make the crate a good place. Since the reason for crate training your puppy isn’t to separate him from the family unit but to provide him his own space within the household, you need to get a wire crate which will grant him a feeling of living apart but will also allow him see everything that is going on. To effectively crate train your puppy, he ought to connect the crate with all things positive, even when he is alone within it.

Crate training puppies can be the easiest, fastest and hassle free ways of housetraining your pup. It’s an easy way to keep track of the whereabouts of your young little puppy, while ensuring that he is not going to the lavatory in each corner, and making chew toys from your favorite assets. The easiest way to crate train a dog would be to expose him to the crate with the door open initially, next consider putting a number of his favorite toys within the crate and close the door for a few minutes.

One of the key goals of crate training puppies should be to show your pup that his crate is his special place where he can feel at ease and secure. Many people, including dog professionals, are certain that crate training a puppy is a great idea because it is makes it less difficult to housebreak puppies as they don’t like to dirty in places where they sleep.

The key to effectively crate training a puppy is to get him to understand that nothing horrendous happens when he’s alone is his crate. Crate training is quite a bit faster when the dog finds the encounter pleasant. Though crate training puppies isn’t difficult, you will have to be persistent.

Things to Know Before Considering a Puppy Daycare

If you will be away for a day and you need someone to look after your pet dog, then a puppy daycare may be the right choice for you. This is where puppies or your pet dogs can stay and be taken care of while you are away. You can get your pet once you have come back. Your pet puppy will be given the right care and attention during your absence and is made sure to be in good condition. This will also give your dog the chance to play with other dogs.

Puppy daycare is a good option to make because leaving your dog home alone may cause him to be destructive especially if it feels hungry or thirsty. It is more like putting your pet dog in a nursery school where it can play, eat and rest all day while waiting for you to come and pick him up. However, there are certain things you need to consider before putting your dog in a puppy daycare.

First, check on the temperament of your dog. See if it may become violent at some point. Puppy daycare is for easy going and fun loving dogs that will just play all day. If your dog has its tempers, then the puppy daycare is not the right place for him. Also, check on the facilities of the daycare. It should be able to provide all the needs of your pet before leaving him to them. Know if all its personnel are skilled enough to handle many dogs at the same time. This is to make sure that your pet is in good hands.

It is also important that your dog is vaccinated with anti-sickness or anti-illness shots. This will avoid your dog from getting infected with other sick dogs around the daycare. And lastly, check on your budget if it will fit with these kinds of puppy daycares. These are somehow expensive but are assured of good handling of your dogs. You may inquire with a puppy daycare near your place and see their rules and regulations if it will fit your preferences.

Caring For A Puppy

To get your puppy off to a good start, schedule a veterinary check-up within the first 48 hours of bringing it home. You can then get a clean bill of health, a schedule for future vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries and advice on food, training, parasite preventatives and trainer recommendations.

What to consider before getting a puppy?

* Investigate the breeds and mixes.
* Ensure you are familiar with the breed’s adult size & personality traits.
* Estimate costs of regular veterinary care, flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
* Estimate costs of grooming, food and how it fits into your lifestyle or family life.

How to keep your puppy safe?

* Create a safe environment at your home. A puppy, just like a human baby, finds the tiniest nooks and crannies to get into and they often get into trouble playing with computer cables, electric cords, cleaning products, pantyhose, etc. Hide or contain wires and cables, put baby locks on low cabinets (little paws and noses can pry doors open), pick up stray strings, needles, paperclips, shoelaces, and move valuables, books and breakables to new heights.

* Crate – search for one with enough room for your puppy to turn around, lie down and sleep but not too spacious as this leaves room for it to eliminate in areas where it doesn’t sleep.

* Until your puppy has finished all rounds of immunisation, he should not mix with a lot of strange dogs or be where there is a high volume of other dogs walking, as he needs to be fully protected before venturing in public places.

What are the handy things you need to have to care for a puppy?

* Use non-tipping metal food and water dishes – this helps keep the dishes from sliding.

* Buy some stain and odour neutralizer – your puppy will always be drawn to areas where “accidents” took place, a good neutralizer will eliminate odours from its urine or stool.

* Buy a brush, nail clipper and a comb if your puppy will eventually grow into a dog with a medium to long coat.

* Get an adjustable collar, identification tag and a six-foot nylon or leather leash with a small clip. Try to avoid chain collars or leashes.

How to house-train (potty-train) your puppy?

* House-training a puppy is not difficult if you’re consistent and stick to a schedule. You will probably be feeding three times a day. First thing in the morning, take the puppy out of its crate and quickly take it outside to where you’d like it to eliminate. Be patient, and as soon as your puppy starts to eliminate, CALMLY praise it with “Good dog” (or whatever term you’d like to use). When your puppy has finished all its business, take a few minutes to play or cuddle it. What you want to teach your puppy is the sooner it eliminates, the sooner it gets to play with you. When playtime is over, bring it inside, feed your puppy breakfast and let it have water. In about 15-20 minutes, take it outside again and repeat the routine. Once back inside, if you have time to monitor your puppy, you may let it explore its surroundings. After that, put it back in its crate.

* Never leave your puppy in the crate for more than its limit in controlling its bladder. Usually a puppy can hold it for as many hours as its age in months. For example, a 2-month old puppy can stay in the crate for no more than 2 hours, as long as it has eliminated before being crated. Repeat the feeding, elimination, play routine at lunch and dinner, then no more water or food 2 hours before bedtime. If the weather is very warm, a few ice cubes in your puppy’s water bowl will quench its thirst but not stimulate its bladder like water will. Generally, at 8 weeks to 3 months, your puppy will have developed better bladder and bowel control and is capable of sleeping through the night. But remember to take your puppy out first thing in the morning!

* When your puppy pees on one spot, he tends to go back to exactly the same place over and over because your puppy recognises the smell. Therefore take your puppy to the same spot every time. If your puppy does it in the right spot, lavish him with lots of praises! Use your happy voice, your puppy will soon know he did it right and will want to do it right the next time.

* If your puppy had an accident somewhere inside the house, make sure you clean the floor or the carpet thoroughly to neutralise the smell. A good quality pet odour remover should do the trick.

* Each time you want your puppy to defecate or urinate, teach you puppy a specific word by repeating the same word many times, for example “go poop”, “go potty”. By repeating the same words each time, it will become another command for your puppy and he will be able to do it when you mention the command.

* Ideally you will have a dog door installed so that your puppy can be trained to go outside when it needs to eliminate. If this is not practical, keep an eye on your puppy, try to observe how your puppy normally acts before he pees, and take him outside as soon as you see the signs. You can also teach your puppy to ask for the door, but that might take some time.

* Establish a routine – for example, after a nap or before play time, take your puppy outside to eliminate.

What are the development stages and behaviours you can expect from a puppy to a dog?

* The Juvenile Stage: 3 to 4 Months

The Juvenile stage typically lasts from 3 to 4 months of age, and it’s during this time your puppy behaves a little more independent – he might start ignoring the commands he’s only recently learned and tries to exert his new-found independence with its “I don’t have to listen to you” attitude!

You will need to apply firm and gentle reinforcement of commands and training at this stage. Your puppy might even start biting you, play biting or even a real attempt to challenge your authority. A sharp “No!” or “No biting!” command, followed by several minutes of ignoring him should take care of this problem.

When you bond with your puppy, avoid games like tug of war or wrestling with him. He may perceive tug of war as a game of dominance – especially if he wins and wrestling is another game that can rapidly get out of control. As your puppy’s strength grows, he will want to play-fight to see who is stronger – even if you win, the message your puppy receives is that it’s alright to fight with you but this is NOT the message you want to send out!

* The Brat Stage: 4 to 6 Months

Your puppy will demonstrate even more independence and wilfulness during the Brat Stage which begins at about 4 months and runs until about 6 months. You may observe a decline in his urge to please you – expect to see more “testing the limits” type behaviours. During this time he’ll be going through a teething cycle and will also be looking for things to chew on to relieve the pain and pressure. Frozen doggie bones can help sooth him during this period.

Your puppy may try to assert his new “dominance” over other family members, especially children. It is common for puppies at this age to ignore commands to return or come to their owners, which can be a dangerous, even fatal, breakdown in your dog’s response to you. If you turn him loose in a public place, and he bolts, the chances of injury or even death can result – so don’t take the chance. Continue his obedience and basic commands training, but make sure to never let him off his leash during this time unless you’re in a confined area.

Your puppy will now begin to go through the hormonal changes brought on by his growing sexual maturity and you may see signs of rebelliousness. (Think adolescent teen-age boy!) If you haven’t already, you should have your puppy neutered (or spayed if you have a female) during this time.

* The Young Adult Stage: 6 to 18 Months

From 6 months to approximately 18 months, the Young Adulthood stage takes place and is usually a stabilising time in your puppy’s life. He’s young, he’s exuberant, he’s bursting with energy and yet he’s learning all the things he needs to become a full-fledged adult dog. Be realistic in your expectations of your dog at this time, just because he’s approaching his full growth and may look like an adult dog, he’s not as seasoned and experienced as you might expect.

Slowly increase the scope of activities and training for your dog. You can start more advanced training during this period, such as herding or agility training. Otherwise, extend his activities to include more people and other animals – allow him to interact with non-threatening or non-aggressive dogs.

Dog Obedience Training – is your Dog Getting Out of Hand?

With dog obedience training, you are essentially instructing your dog to carry out specific activities and commands. Some of these commands are the time-honored ones like sit, stay and heel. The importance of dog obedience training is placed on quick, accurate execution. While there may be quite a few general advantages to dog obedience training, it is usually not always the “end all” for controlling dog behavior.

Obedience trained dogs will conduct specific instructions because their master is commanding them to do it. The reason why some people think that dog obedience training is not “all that,” is because while your dog may learn some of the obedient behaviors, that does not mean he always acts appropriately. Case in point: some dogs are predisposed to being rescue or herding dogs. You can teach them to sit and stay, but at times their instincts will override those obedient behaviors. That is why you sometimes see dogs trying to “rescue” their masters when they are swimming, or a dog “herding” children who are running all over the place (like sheep).

With behavior training, you are essentially becoming the “Miss Manners” for the canine set. Some of the behavior training that is included is house training, crate training and good conduct while on a leash. Many people start on potty training when they get a puppy. They start with spread newspapers like house training and graduate up to leaving by doggie door to eliminate outside. Or you might leash your dog and teach it not to pull you around. Barking is also another behavior that is often tamed in behavior training.

Even though dog obedience training might be the most widely used method to train your pooch, be advised that there is no one way which will work every time on any dog. In fact, many people combine the different types of training to accomplish their goals with their dog. You might even say that certain behaviors a dog exhibits could be solved with a combined training effort. If you plan to be a do-it-yourself trainer, review each aspect of training and pick and choose what you want to concentrate on.

The most adorable creatures in the world are the ones at the onset of their lives. From newborn babies to newborn puppies; who does not love having these precious little heavenly angels around? Now everyone cannot get babies whenever they wish but they sure can get an equally lovable puppy dog as their best companion and well wisher. Dogs are such beautiful animals; their love towards their masters is immeasurable. It’s only the owners of these pets who get to experience unconditional love from their canine loved ones. Most dog lovers take care of their dog as their own child. They pamper them and make them feel like family. It has also been observed to be a fashion trend to take a little puppy dog around in hand exactly like certain movie stars do, and needless to say if your favorite movie star or celebrity is caught doing something, that practice sure does spread like wild fire among the common man.

Since fashion has come in to picture even in the case of your pooches, various forms of apparel, costumes, accessories, jewelry and other miscellaneous adornments for our four-legged best pals have been highly commercialized and sold in the market and is a huge hit. What better occasion than a pooch birthday to gift your puppy dog the best and the cutest outfit that suits its personality. Dogs and puppies, when they look at you with those big eyes when you are all decked up in your best attire that is both colorful and elegant, does it occur to you that it might also want to look similar to its master and wear something colorful and elegant of its own. Although nothing is communicated verbally it is something that you as dog lovers may want to make your dogs feel like royalty on the occasion of their birthday.

Birthday clothing for your dogs is available in the market and in various designs to suit your needs. Before you buy your dog a birthday suit, you can always have a look at pictures of dogs of your dog breed sporting fashionable dresses on the internet. These dresses are also sold through various popular websites that are into this business for a few years now.

Birthday dresses can be carefully chosen according to the size of your dog, its gender and the color of the fur. It is just as much fun to shop for your pooches as it is to shop for any of your loved ones on their birthday. The dresses are even cuter and pretty when what you own is a puppy dog.

Birthday outfits for female dogs are much more grand and full of variety and colors and designs. They come with a lot of frills and nets and floral designs. You could also fit a bow of the same kind onto the head of the puppy. It gives the most chic look and is totally photograph material. Decorate your puppy with the outfit and the accessories and make them look at themselves in the mirror, they sure would bark out of joy. Take a picture of this memorable birthday and frame it at your home so that others can see how lucky your dog is to find a home that showers special love and adoration for it on its birthday.

For many families, even if they do not train anything else with their puppy, they will take the time to conduct puppy potty training. After all, who wants to go around cleaning up puppy “messes” from the carpet every day? Puppy potty training can be frustrating for all involved. Remember, though, that puppies are just babies and they do not know what you want until you let them know. There are several strategies to try when you are conducting puppy potty training.

Use A Crate: Using a crate will make puppy potty training that much easier. If you are unable to watch your puppy, put it in the crate. A crate is like a den, and dogs do not like to soil where they sleep. Use the same command when sending puppy into the crate, and always offer a reward while doing puppy potty training. Puppies may cry in the crate at first, but remember, giving them free reign will allow them to potty anywhere in your house. Do not leave puppy in the crate for long periods of time – allow puppy frequent trips outside for puppy potty training.

Designate A Potty Place: It will make puppy potty training easier if you take puppy out to the same place each time. While doing puppy potty training, the yard is only for going potty – take puppy to the same area each time. Only stay out about 10 minutes at a time before going back in. Playtime should only be allowed after the puppy has gone potty.

Reward Success: Remember, puppy potty training is about getting a desired behavior. When puppy receives a reward of praise or a small treat, they start associating puppy potty training as being a good thing. Happy puppies learn faster.

Use A Leash: An essential part of puppy potty training is being able to keep an eye on your puppy during the process. This can be difficult to do when you are trying to get other things done around the house. Using a leash tied to your waist can allow you to keep puppy near so he or she cannot sneak off to use the bathroom.

Practice: Like anything else, puppy potty training takes lots of practice. Take puppy outside for puppy potty training every time he or she eats or drinks, comes out of the crate, or wakes up from a nap. Take puppy out for puppy potty training as often as possible, and keep an eye out for the times that your puppy needs to potty on a regular basis.

Avoid Paper: While some puppy owners swear by using paper for puppy potty training, ultimately they are only teaching puppy to potty in the house. Instead, work on teaching puppy that outdoors is the only acceptable place to potty.

Prepare For Accidents: Puppy potty training is bound to have accidents, so instead of stressing out about them, prepare for them. Before puppy potty training begins, make sure that you have plenty of cleanup materials on hand, including paper towels or rags, odor neutralizers, and enzymatic cleaners. Keep these within easy reach for you, but out of reach for the puppy, to make puppy potty training accidents easy to clean up.
